IT’S SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!!!
Try to contain your excitement, I had the same reaction. The only reason I’m excited about this day, is because of all the recipes out there you can get and all the different types of snacks that I can try out and know will be eaten by my husband while he watches men rushing towards each other to catch a ball to take…………..somewhere……………to score something…….yeah, you get the point, I DON’T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL.
I don’t even know who’s playing except for the fact that the other day I was watching the Today show and they happened to mention that Wrangler the cute little mascot they have now on set, picked the Seahawks (I think that was the name) to win the Super Bowl. And except for the countless jokes that are now circulating on the internet about deflated footballs, still don’t know what that means, that’s about as much as I know or care about this.
Thank God, I have a husband that only becomes a sports demon buff and actually cares to look at these games when they are at the final stages. Like when it’s the “Super Bowl”, “World Series”, “NBA Finals”, and folks I only learned about that last one today when I asked him, “what’s the last game they call the basketball playoffs?” and he willingly obliged me with the answer. Yup, that’s the extent of my sports knowledge.
But on to the reason for this blog. Check out this football dip that I had floating in my recipe file for ages waiting for the right opportunity to make it.
Okay it took EVERYTHING I had not to have this while I was taking pictures (I did keep taking out and eating the “imperfect” pieces that kept mysteriously straying and were not photo worthy, HA)! Seriously, what’s not to like about it, PEANUT BUTTER, CHOCOLATE CHIPS, CREAM CHEESE, chocolate chip SPRINKLES? It’s perfect and it’s super easy to make. So if you’re looking for a last-minute dip to make for the congregation of people who are lining up at your house, look no further, THIS ONE IS IT!
|Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Football Dip|
•¼ cup butter, softened •4 ounces cream cheese, softened •1 cup peanut butter (you can use whichever you prefer, smooth or crunchy, you can also use whatever nut butter you have on hand, almond, walnut, etc.)
•½ teaspoon vanilla extract
•1 ½ cups powdered sugar (you may use up to 2 cups depending on how thick or sweet you want it)
•½ cup mini chocolate chips (if you’d like to add more you can, just remember the outside is going to be decorated with either sprinkles or chips as well)
•Chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles for the outside of the football
•White chocolate or frosting for decorating the football laces onto the front of the football
If you see that your dip is too soft to form into a football shape, place it in the refrigerator and let it chill for about 15-30 minutes. If you place it in the freezer it may speed up the process, just don’t forget it!
For your more fastidious guests, complaining inquiring about the caloric content of this dip (although if that’s the case, why’d they come? okay, I’m joking…I think) you may want to lay out some “celery” or other type of veggie that will go with peanut butter and then get better guests…I’m kidding….no, I’m really not.
